Interesting places in the area and excursion to Verde Lagoon

Leaving from El Cruce (where Route 231 and the Nahuel Huapi Boulevard meet) you have to go towards the port (south). After gendarmerie and some schools, you’ll go through parks and woods that end when a small urban area start. This will lead you to the Villa La Angostura port.

Once there you can visit the chapel La Asunción, built in the ’40. Meters from the chapel you will find the access to the Messidor, a house built by Alejandro Bustillo, well known architect. There’s a road that surrounds the castle-like residency and ends in the same access.

From the port you can make a wide variety of excursions of the lake and to Quetrihue peninsula. Here you’ll finds lots of foot paths, or paths to ride your bike or to go by horse (to get to Los Arrayanes wood you only have to do 12 kilometers, for example)

Verde Lagoon

On the West Port, take the land route. This will get into a thick forest that leads to the Verde Lagoon, a municipal reserve. On its surface there are lots of insects and aquatic birds, meanwhile, on its depth, there are various fish, like the puyen or the Patagonian silverside, two protected species. There are signs all the way along to guide the visitor, indicating species of some animals and plants and to show them the way of this self-guided circuit.

Very close by to the small pier you will find the “Love Arrayan”, as the people call it, because of the curious way an Arrayan and a cypress got tangled.
