Cerro Piltriquitrón
The main rental cabins are located on the slopes of the Piltriquitrón hill.
There are also artisans, tea houses and places where to hire a horse ride. Higher up it is the para glide platform where you can be enjoyed one of best hills of the country for the practice of this sport.
From the refuge, located to 1200 meters above sea level, in the clear days of spring, summer and autumn it is possible to see Osorno Volcano located in the Republic of Chile.
How to get there
Leaving the ACA (Argentina Auto Club) gas station by Route 258 towards the south, after passing on your right the border police quarters (Gendarmeria), approximately 2 kilometers of the ACA we find the rods sign that indicates the access street to the left.
Following the way the winding slopes of the hill raises more than 1000 meters in its way, you reach the look out point with is a spectacular view of El Bolsón and the best Vista of the snow-covered peaks that separates Argentina and Chile.
In clear days it is possible to se El Tronador, a volcano located almost 100 km away, and a chain of unexplored glaciers to the the southwest behind Puelo Lake where the Turbio river originates. This is the departure point to climb to the refuge of the Piltriquitrón.
