Las Grutas, warm waters and cliffs
The Atlantic coast of the province of Rio Negro has three important and outstanding points, one being a tourist center, the other one being center of commercial marine fishing, and the third by constituting a fundamental support for the economic activity of the Patagonia. We are speaking of Las Grutas, San Antonio Oeste and Port San Antonio, respectively.
At Las Grutas arrive every year thousands of tourists to enjoy and relax. They arrive attracted by its beaches with cliffs of incredible beauty, and by the famous warm waters of these coasts.
Its climate is semi-arid, with little rain and a temperature that in summer goes from 14 to the 30 degrees centigrade.
In the Gulf San Matías
Las Grutas is located in the San Matías Gulf on the Atlantic coast of the Province of Rio Negro, Patagonia Argentina. Access from the North by National route 3 or Provincial Route 251; from the South by National Route 3 and from the West by Provincial Route 2.
70 km from Las Grutas is the Port of San Antonio This harbor serves international vessels with services and necessary infrastructure. Around it are virgin beaches, calm and extensive with white sand.
The Las Grutas have a stable population of approximately 2,500 inhabitants, and approximately tourists 100,000 arrive during the high season (summer, from the 15 of December to the month of February). During the average low season the tourist flow diminishes and the city offers special events during the week ends to promote the arrival of tourists in those months.
The tourist center has an ample services infrastructure. Lodging of 15,000 beds, between private houses for rent, 61 residential complexes of departments, 13 hotels and, 15 camping with all the services raging very different categories.

It is important to mention that during the month of January the capacity is overwhelmed therefore we recommended to make reservations well in advance.
As far as the gastronomical services it has 20 restaurants, that offer regional typical plates, like tourist menus between which they stand out: Salmon roquefort, fried Rabas, Cucuruchos of cornalitos, Milanese of merluza, Escabeche of seafood, gratinadas Casserole of seafood, Clams vinagret, shrimp cocktail, etc.
There is also a casino with open year round, the street Fair of Craftsmen, night clubs, fishing expeditions, diving and a lot more.
